• Antique Large Hand Carved Portland Stone Garden Sundial
• Excellent hand carved sundial with a lovely patina.
• The sundial is in 9 pieces for ease of transport.
• The sundial measures 60" Tall and the base is 27 ½" Square.
• This was reclaimed from a property in Staffordshire - the images show it in situ.
• Original solid brass sundial with enscription which reads: SERENE I STAND AMONG THE FLOWERS, AND ONLY COUNT LIFE'S SUNNY HOURS, FOR ME DARK DAYS DO NOT EXIST, BRAZEN-FACED OLD OPTIMIST.
• Circa 1930.
• This is a substantial item - it is tall - but the proportions are excellent. It had been installed with lime mortar between the joints so it has come apart - almost perfectly and very clean - it can be re-assembled with lime mortar or a mastic type of adhesive.
