Bespoke Kitchen Dressers

Here at UKAA, we offer a bespoke service to build a kitchen dresser made to your specifications, working on a three-week lead time. Our welsh dressers are crafted by skilled joiners here in Cannock Wood, Staffordshire, using reclaimed pine and modern construction methods to build the best quality furniture. Our bespoke dressers are made to order (we do not use any pre-made timber or templates), meaning we can tailor the dresser to your exact specifications. Just tell us the dimensions, number of drawers or cupboards, if you need any plate racks, the type of fixtures and fittings and the finish of the dresser – we’ll make it for you.

 

 

Choose Your Finish

The majority of our customers choose glass fronted cupboards and for this we only use certified and stamped safety glass for your peace of mind. Having the glass cut to measure at the time of order from our local glass manufacturer allows full flexibility. For example, if you want to go for two large cupboards or several smaller doors, we can do that for you. Or, if you’d like a mirrored section in a particular size, we can factor that into your design. When deciding the finish, choose between a traditional farmhouse country look with a complete hand waxed finish, or opt for a solid painted colour. One of the current most popular choices is the distressed look. We achieve this by hand, using wire wool and glass paper to create distressed areas in patches that would be in naturally high wear, for example the door knobs, corners and edges of the dresser. The degree of the distress in the finish is up to yourself and we can take photographs to show you at each stage of the distressing process. Reclaimed Pine Dressers

The reclaimed pine dresser can either be waxed, varnished, lime waxed or painted in any colour. Choose the finishing products and we’ll buy them for your order. However, by default we use one of the leading paint brands, Farrow & Ball. Any leftover paint is given to you to use as touch up and we also supply you with a brand new tin of wax and cotton cloth.

 

 

Painting Our Dressers We take great pride in our painting service and use traditional paints and methods - painting each layer by hand using a simple pot and brush. The UKAA standard is to use one layer of an undercoat followed by two layers of a top coat with time allowed for drying between coats. Between each coat we take care to lightly sand the surface to ensure the smoothest finish possible. To give you an idea of our high standards, an average dresser painted with water based paint will take three days to paint, with an oil based paint taking significantly longer.
