We stock quality genuine reclaimed chimney pieces and fireplaces for the period home including Victorian fire surrounds, cast iron fire baskets, hob grates, ranges, cast iron inserts and cast iron combination fireplaces.
Fire Surrounds
We have some wonderful examples of fire surrounds here at UKAA. Victorian, Edwardian and later pieces. These were made from a variety of materials including cast iron, oak, pine, pitch pine and pine and gesso.
The Victorian pieces are often highly decorated with swags of grapes and flowers Cherubs birds and animals. On the pine and gesso examples the detailing is made from a material called gesso this material is a compound of plaster of paris or whiting in glue this is easy to sculpture and pliable. When painted it looks just like the wood has been carved.
One of the finest makers of cast iron were Coalbrookdale and are marked normally on the back of the item.

At UKAA we stock a large range of Carron reproduction cast iron combination fireplaces, cast iron inserts, cast iron and wooden surrounds in oak and pine and a large choice of hearths and tiles. Carron was founded in Stirlingshire, Scotland in 1760 by the Roebuck Family.
The fireplaces are cast traditionally using original sand moulds.
