- Reclaimed from the banks of the River Thames at Isleworth near London following redevelopment work several years ago.
- The quality of the casting is something else - it is very crisp.
- These were designed to be used in the event of a flood in London - they are for tying up a boat.
- They were sculpted by Timothy Butler for Sir Joseph Bazalgette’s Victorian sewage works programme in 1868-70.
- Made from Cast Iron with a Steel ring. Alongside the Houses of Parliament they are made of Bronze - further up the Thames they changed to Iron.
- These are truly a one off and will never have the opportunity to buy again.
- They weigh 175kg (27 Stone) each.
- They measure: 50" Long x 33 ½" Wide.
