  • The lions measure: 24" long x 14" tall x 4 ½" projection
  • There is an old repair on one of the lions - they are in the same condition as when they left Chatsworth
  • A unique, three-day auction of rare and rediscovered furnishings and personal artefacts belonging to the Devonshire family will go on sale at Chatsworth in Derbyshire.
  • Rediscovered beneath layers of dust, these objects were once part of the fabric of the many great houses that have featured in the Devonshire family's history. Chatsworth, Devonshire House (on Piccadilly, London - demolished in the 1920's), Bolton Abbey, Chiswick House, Hardwick Hall, Lismore Castle and Compton Place have all contributed items.
  • Many rare architectural fixtures and fittings such as fireplaces and door frames, plus room furniture including chairs, cupboards and lamps will give a unique glimpse into the lives of family members. Objects date from the 16th Century to the present day and include personal items from the Duchess Georgiana to the current Dowager Duchess (Deborah, the last of the Mitford sisters).
